Initiated by her observations of shadows upon the ground and shadows on the ground, the artist spent weeks perfecting the technique used that allows objects to be represented in two dimensions onto canvas. Rather the subject is transformed into a re-creation of itself, where the surface becomes the carrier of it's individual interpretation of the subject, particularly in the case of living or perishable items, such as people or fruits. Alexa Meade's painting style, that is extremely ephemeral its nature, can be seen. The only thing of her art to survive is her photograph. Techniques of photography and painting closely synchronized, which results in a two-dimensional, flat space that achieves trompe l'oeil. Certain parts of the image such as the hair, or eyes, display the 3D dimension. Meade occasionally integrates painted models in the space surrounding them. They are able to engage with the environment she has created. It eliminates any distinction between painting, photography and installation.
