Ani Difranco
Angela Maria Ani DiFranco, a Canadian-American singer and songwriter. She has released over 20 albums. DiFranco categorizes her music as folk-rock and alternative. But it includes influences like punk, hip-hop, and jazz. Ani Difranco is considered to be a feminist hero and a Grammy award winner. In the beginning, as one of the women's first artists of the 90s, she founded her own record label. The parents of DiFranco, Elizabeth (Ross), a ex-student at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Dante Americo DiFranco met each one another while students at the same school. Her father was Italian descent as was her mother from Montreal. Ani DiFranco composed and sang 32 Flavors. The song is featured on her sixth studio album Not a Pretty Girl released in 1995. It was also featured on the soundtrack to the Canadian romantic comedy Better Than Chocolate, released in 1999. DiFranco apologized in 2013, after it was revealed that she had set up a three-day workshop at the Louisiana plantation. A lot of people (including us) did not feel affected by her decision to cancel. DiFranco issued an additional apology only a few days after. The singer is well-known for her Little Folksinger style, but she's collaborated with many music genres, from Pete Seeger to Chuck D. New Orleans is where she lives.
